VISION

The creation of this site for the China Brazil Football alliance is the creation of Paul Yih 叶毓丰, a cross cultural psychologist, with his vast life experience in the various global cultures with his more dedicated cultural zones between China and Brazil.

Over the years, as Paul has been educated in Brazil during his youth with his full engagement with the teaching and educational systems fostered by the best-known Italian educator John Bosco in both Macau and Brazil.

Paul’s idea to create this one entity is to try to foster the successful programs involving the total development of the football programs in China. It is also part of his commitment to see to the development of this educational and learning programs in the context of the “total education’ of any athlete from any country or any culture.

Brazil had seized the attention of Paul and his family, when speaking of his family, his family in China, in the US and most important of all, Brazil. Paul Yih considers himself a Brazilian by heart – as he had stated many times, “if I have received my life by god (euphemism), Brazil had given me my heart”. Thus, one of the major purpose of his move in the creation of this CBFA – or China/Brazil Football Alliance is to invite all parties in both nations to share and to participate the total development of program/s to enhance the football programs in China with the improvement of the athletic skills of the Chinese athletes.

By his rich experience crossing over the many world culture zones and sphere, his command of five languages with fluency. Paul Yih had witnessed the many goods as well as not-so-good developments in and around the world with professional football. Yih takes this cultural sphere of the football as a sport most serious.

As of now, the style of play and the most note attention of the world with football remains on the soil in Europe, with television and global broadcast, the dominant visual team work and skills remains to be in Europe.

However, in the development of the playing skills of the players that can be varied. Paul Yih remains with all his bias to see the importance of Brazil.

First, Brazil has ample space – yes, the numbers of soccer/football fields and its availability are enormous, there are no lack of space in Brazil to create hundreds if not thousands of football/soccer fields.

Brazil also will not be of any shortage of talents – Along with the mission of the school of John Bosco and the Salesians, Paul Yih had already envisioned the creation of the multiple soccer fields, to be given to all the “poor”, or Brazilian youngsters their love for the sport. And as Paul Yih is also the creator of the John Bosco Athletic Academy to be located from his old school, Colegio Sao Joaquim, present day UNISAL in Lorena. It is Paul Yih ‘s ardent desire to have such academy created. Lorena is very strategic for the entire tristate area of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Minas- Lorena is 250 km away from both Rio and Sao Paulo – and it is the midway of the two most populated state with its rich abundances in that region called Vale de Paraiba.

The region’s climate is ideal to create the first JBAA – John Bosco Athletic Academy to form the basic JBAA in Brazil. There will be future JBAA in each state in Brazil and to be expanded into all Latin America. The Academy will be like any other first grade junior high school and high school in and around the world.

Our athletes and students will receive their full scale of learning with the same vigor of all Dom Bosco/Salesian schools. Our student must be able to handle two languages, or one foreign language beyond their own native tongue.

The difference of our school system is where pragmatism had led us to teach all the many young Brazilians, with focus of the or needy bunch first, because this is also part of the overall focus of the academy – Alleviation of the poor, in the sharing of the mission we have in China.

The students will not only be fully trained in their playing skills, but to graduating all of them, with the total capability to manage their future lives and their own economic lives. It is our vision that the future graduates of these student/athletes will continue to fuel the academy’s missions and to let the academy’s future to be onto the hands of the graduates and their Alumni Association as Yih and his old-school mates from Colegio Sao Joaquim and today UNISAL.

We thrive to make all our work to progress dynamically and organically.

MISSION

There are the few goals and objectives that must be filled in the coming months and years.

First, we will be building the size of the academy to accommodate in and around 100 students with the option of the land to host more when needed. The other option is to open our academies in all the Brazilian state, or major cities and all are to be funded by the members of the CBFA and its patrons. Our financial strategies are to be able to use the academies to train future world football players and to bring on multiple teams in all youth leagues from every part of the world. Our student players in development will also be participating in regional, national and global tournaments to allow them the full development of both skills and their proven achievement. The entire formation of the Academy as well as the CBFA will be abide by the following dictum and values: The basic 4Ts. Total Transparency Total efficiency Total Accountability Total Integrity

Execution

Exemplary work of the CBFA group

The works of CBFA will be of tremendous value to both China and Brazil. In the sport’s cultural context – I am putting this in the context of “culture”, or in their “Cultural spheres”, the terms of cultural sphere/s are part of the communication workshop and developments I have started since 1974-75, or upon me finishing the Master degree in cross cultural psychology under the umbrella (context) of Educational Psychology at University of Wisconsin at Platteville.

At present, as I have envisioned the teaching of the communication skills with so called CD© and CS©. CD© stands for communication dynamics© and into the sphere, or the spheres called CS©, once again, Cultural spheres©

The CD/CS© – Communication Dynamic and its related atmosphere of CS – Cultural sphere will be an important instrument is in the context of communication for all the sporting “sphere” and the communication between the teaches, coaches, trainers and the athletes.

This will be a new pedagogy in the arena of communication psychology. This model developed by Paul and Kathy Yih since 1975.

This can be servicing the entire sports arena without “verbalization” or the dependence of languages – This can also be called the psychology of the Round and Square using the shapes as the communication medium that can be teaching communicative psychology in all cultures without ever the need to cite other languages – It is a cross cultural hybrid with Yih’s exposure with the Chinese and Asian roots, blended in with the psychology from Brazil, namely, Paulo Freire and Darcy Ribeiro, the best Brazilian cultural anthropologist of our time. This symbiosis of psychology and cultural anthropology. This is one of the future linguistic group in joining psychology and culture – Thus , this can be in the realm of psycho-anthropological and cultural language and a universal communication medium.

We will jointly be learning more of the works of both CD© and CS© as we move along in the way we are dealing the issues of football with China.

Over the past forty years, I have observed many of the great developments in China, from government to economics as we are all now the tremendous economic achievements of China. However, in terms of the professional development of this one sport –Football, China has as China had much of the problems where the Chinese citizens have been denied or neglected of their viewership and pleasure. To be totally open, when the sports are being “fixed”, or “manipulated” for its outcome, the players are cheated out to show their real performances and the audience is not being respected to see a real “result” of the games. Early on, I have noticed the many issues involving dishonesty and outright criminals – when games are fixed and players were paid to their “fake” movement, in so doing, by generating a false “penalty” or whatsoever situations to allow the “gamblers” or “fixers” to determine the outcome of the scores and games.

This sets of dishonesties had set back China’s professional football progress many folds.
How do we now go about to first, to eradicate the many negative influences along with the implementation and to install the rightful respect of the players and the improvement of their skills.

In the context of the CCI – Cross Cultural Institute who holds the teaching of CD/CS© communication dynamics and cultural sphere will come in handy to move forward with the football programs in China, first, by pairing up with Brazil.

There are those few questions that we are raising up here to get to each one of you and your attention.

First, we need to install credit, to be credible or to gain trust of the people, the audience, the viewers, we have first to be also accountable, next, we will be speaking of the “efficiency” of our players, our coaches, trainers and management team plus the ownership of the professional team.

There are those basic 4Ts – As we have called it the 4T Principle. Just the basic principles of:

• Total Transparency

• Total Efficiency

• Total Accountability

• Total Integrity

Total Transparency is all about communications, and they will be incorporated into the CD/CS© system of communications.

Total Efficiency is where, in the entire time of the football playing field, players and coaches, and the trainers must learn to maximize Their time on the field – and to maximize their contribution in the most visible way.

TE – For players, they just must understand the fundamentals – Their mission is to move the ball, effectively, efficiently from the time The players have the control of the ball – and then to move the ball “effectively” to the opponent’s goal and execute and expedite such command to have the ball into the goalie’s net. Their efficiency is to have both the agility to move the ball, to pass the ball and to do so most effectively without the ball to be lost to the opponents. To do so, to maximize their executions in the most expedient way by the knowledge of their individual skill as well their “awareness” of the position of their teammates, and to do it well, they also must have the awareness of their opponents.

Like any other sport involving a rotating round spherical object – the ball rolls, bounces and with players who must learn the movement of the ball, and in different conditions, as to the rotation of the ball, and the direction of the ball, under the various conditions. In the cold and winter climate, the snow on the ground will go from dry to wet – and in the past, such wet conditions will be weighted in heavier of the ball, thus it was harder to create the sort of spinning, or the placement of the ball when it is wet and heavy, with also the wind factor, it is an important issue when those external conditions are varied – from the west snow, to the wet rain and then mixed in with the conditions of the field, be that natural turf, grass or artificial turf that will carry the movement of the ball very differently.

Remember well, often, during my time of coaching with the many youngsters – many beginners who had yet learn how to kick a ball and yes, many of them were also “toe kickers”, wrongfully in the use of their toes kicking the ball – 99% of the time, there are very little control of such contact with their toes.

Next, I have reminded them all the importance not to just kick, and football is not a game of “kick ball”. However, it all has to be depending on the age of the players – many youngsters have the same tendency to use their toes – most ironically, the toe area, the pointed area of any shoes, its most immediate contact is indeed – of those toes.

Subsequently, by attempting to make the difference, I kept on telling them – in this sport, we do not play football – we “do” football. I have put into their mind early on of the importance to understand the word “DO”. When I said, we DO football, is where the real efficiency matters, in the concept of Total Efficiency is to be able to move the ball, from a Defense state to the Offense State. Which meaning, to see the ball, to have the ball under one’s control and most immediately, to move from the defensive move to the offensive moves. This conversion and how to expedite this idea from the status of defense to offense – Is the “maxim” for any sports. And just like all other sports – this conversion of play, from defense to offense is crucial. And subsequently, this is how we can encourage the skills of our youngsters, or even old ones to see to the “TE”, Total Efficiency in our football.

The emphasis of TA also for a sportsman, for an athlete and a football players, this concept of accountability is also being of huge importance. It takes the coaching staff to cultivate, to in plant this idea onto all athletes of their “accountability”, it is also part of the efficiency, personal efficiency, when it is well executed, it will be credit all to the team efficiency and now – Accountability and to hold each and every one accountable of one’s performance, above and beyond the ball controlling skills – but to help the entire team, thinking and acting strategically in all sets of circumstances. All of us are like members of a single business – Your performance when it is well done and probably executed, you will bring into the team of its “profit”. You are concern about the entire team and club success, and the demand of the accounting for the entire team and players. Total Accountability is to show, when you can do your maximum, and to outplay your own role, or to cover your own zone and territory- However, you are also capable to outthink of your opponents and you are also being able to gauge the skill and ability of your own teammate – to play and to better perform and outperform of your own “area” of play. Ex: you can out run the attacking team, you are capable to cover the position of another team mate, when he or she is out, or hurt or just being out of his/her position. This is when you are exhibiting extra expedience – by stepping out of your own turf – and play the role of your players in the defense. Ex: as a fullback, when the goalie is caught or not in place, you must use your hands to block a ball into a goal, any goal… Yes, you will draw a penalty, but that penalty is the extra “option” that you should take.
